We left Salt Lake City and headed south. I have never been to Las Vegas so we took a detour and drove through Vegas, then headed to see the new bridge that by-passes the Hoover Dam. We were
really disappointed since the new road blocked the view of the dam. Before we realized that we should have turned off before the bridge, it was too late. Oh well, maybe another trip...
But we did stop at the Grand Canyon, South-Rim.
Tom had never seen the Canyon so it was a treat for him.
Before we left Salt Lake City, we picked up a hitchhiker,
my dad. He really wanted to see the Hoover Dam bridge and
his great grandchildren in Arizona. It has been really
fun to have him along.
After seeing the Canyon, we drove to Flagstaff, Arizona
and stayed the night. The next morning we drove into
Sedona to see our dear friends, Sammy and LeRoy Townsend.
Dr. Townsend was Tom's major professor at Utah and
Michigan .
They took us on a wonderful picnic to show us some
of the beautiful sights of Sedona.
The Townsends will always be dear friends.
We finally arrived in Mesa to visited our four Arizona
grandchildren. Of course we had to get them a
jumbo ball. We had so much fun in Idaho with Rhaegan
and Marlee and their ball, we wanted to bring the
fun to south.
They knew right away how to have a great time.
Leaving for a day with the grandkids. With March
Madness starting today we had to get into
the spirit; "GO BLUE"
The Allie and Paige love Opa and he had fun reading to them.
We even weathered the hot temperatures to visit
the new Gilbert temple.
Tomorrow's another day of fun...
