You know how Star Wars started out with future events and then finally gave us how it all began? Well I started this blog with the past, but later wanted to include the following photo, but when I tried to add it, the blog put it here at the beginning and I couldn't figure out how to move it to the end. So the story is going to begin with the future.
August 1997, Quinten was leaving for his mission to Paraguay. We wanted a family picture before he left so we had the kids pose in our new backyard. We had just moved to Norwich, New York from Oxford, Ohio. Of course they didn't grow up with a lot of "picture taking," so to get them to pose was a major accomplishment. Quinten and Nicholas were obliging because they just wanted it over. But the Kendall and Krista were letting us know that they were very annoyed and wanted the whole thing over.

Back to the Past:
Then they were growing up fast. We moved into our first "owned" home with a wonderful backyard. It was the pits to mow, but a great place for playing kick-the-can, Easter egg hunts and sledding. The kids loved to swing, although this swing was in our neighbor's yard. In the picture, Krista was being silly and wouldn't stand on both legs. In Primary, I had a box with labels on the sides that the kids could throw to choose how they were going to sing a song. One of the options was "singing on one foot." Krista loved that one, so she was always standing on one foot. But we did tell family who saw this picture that she had had her leg removed. (No it wasn't a nice joke, but fun at the time). We also had our first dog, Abby. She was part beagle and black lab. We had to keep a tight lease on her, she loved to get away and run. You couldn't catch her. But these were fun years with lots of memories that need to be recorded.
1984 was a good year. Tom was finally out of school and had a good paying job. We moved from California to Ohio. But mostly we were in a house and not an apartment with annoying neighbors. 1985, Krista was born and we had four darling little angels. Well looking at the picture one might wonder how angelic they were! Quinten was always thought of as the "quiet" one, Nick was the "instigator,"and Kendall was the "sneaky" one. Krista was too young to have a title so we just called her "Boo." So the picture doesn't really match the titles. But those were good years, lots of playing "Sardines," making friends with the Nobles who lived next door, and figuring out life without being poor graduate students.

I never noticed that I was missing a leg until just now!!! What a sick joke... you guys are so mean to me!
We weren't mean to you, you were the one goofing off!
I was going to say the same thing as Karen...
These pics are awesome. I love that bottom one, even with the missing leg.
