It's time to leave Berlin. We had our last breakfast at our
hotel. I had to post some pictures of the type of food
we ate each morning. Certainly not my typical
breakfast. But I can say I have gotten addicted to all
the bread and cheese we have been eating.
The little cups on the right have yogurt, fruit and rice pudding.
I had rice pudding every morning, couldn't get enough of it.
I avoided this table each morning, but being our last day we had
to try a "Berliner." It's the jelly donuts in the middle. Tom said
that John F Kennedy came to Germany and during a speak he
was making a political remark, but said something about
jelly-filled donuts. It became such a joke around Germany
that jelly-filled donuts became a German landmark.
They are really good, like our Krispie Kremes.

It's a typical zoo
Onto to the train station to go to Goslar.
German's are very proud of how their trains and buses
are very prompt. But today they let us down. Every
train we had to take was late. In fact, one train we
stood on for well over an hour.
Waiting for our last train to Goslar. Great train station!!!
Finally arrived in Goslar. This is a beautiful, quaint town.
Tom served his mission here, in fact was the Branch
President. He was really excited to come back to see it.
Many of the buildings date back to the 1400's. The big
grey building has a glockenspiel that's up on the roof.
Those doors open up on the hour and these statues
come out while music is playing. I took a video but
you couldn't really see it so I will try again tomorrow.
Tom kept talking about a statue he remembered when he
was here over 40 years ago. We kept saying he needed to find
this statue of a boy "pooping out coins." Well wouldn't you know
it, he found it. Tom about screamed when he saw it.
It has something to do with the people thinking that
children bring wealth and good luck to the
family or town.
That's debatable.
The other thing Tom is obsessed with is finding where
they met for church. It's in one of these buildings with 1400
written on it. That's when the building was built.
We walked up and down these streets and couldn't find
it. But we have all day tomorrow.
One more day in Goslar.
By the way, the weather has been beautiful. Warm in the morning, cools down in the afternoon/evening. We have had rain everyday (it poured during the soccer game). The first day we were here it was very hot and not having air conditioning anywhere was kind of rough, but we couldn't ask for better weather.

Thanks for commenting on the blog Nick. We are having a great time.
Seriously, that is the funniest statue ever. What in the world were they thinking?!! Thanks again for the updates and pictures. It is really impressive that Tom still knows his way around these places!!!
